Karl obtained his MSc in Resource Management at the University of Edinburgh in UK as recipient of the Royal Dutch Shell Centenary Scholarship Fund (SCSF). He completed his BSc in Forestry at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He previously worked with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) Philippines on a landscape and biodiversity project in collaboration with Conservation International (CI) Center for Applied Biodiversity Science. Prior to his ICRAF-CI engagement, he served as a Science Research Specialist focusing on environmental management research for the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development. As a forester by profession, he has a broad experience conducting environmental impact assessment and monitoring studies of terrestrial vegetation in the Philippines. Currently, he is doing his PhD research under the Louwes Scholarship Fund on Water and Food Research.
