Professional experience

Subodh Kumar Upadhyaya has a Masters degree in Zoology from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and Master’s in Biotechnology degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, India. He is currently working as Associate professor in Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University. He has been involved in teaching and research in areas like molecular biology and genetics.

Currently he is enrolled as a PhD student in Leiden University the Netherlands in the area of Conservation biology and wildlife genetics. His current research work is to study human wildlife interactions in Bardia National Park, Nepal,  using molecular methods. He is recipient of  Nuffic- NFP PhD fellowship. He was involved in the initial setting up of Biotechnology program at Kathmandu University, the first program of its kind in Nepal.  He has also actively participated in trainings and workshops organized by Nepal Tiger Genome Project (NTGP).
