Professional experience

Marinda received her Bachelor and Master degree from VU University, in the field of Biology(2007) and specialization Ecology(2012).

She worked as an junior Researcher at the IVM (VU) with focus on the effects of flame-retardants on zebrafish.

In November 2014, she started as a PhD researcher at CML, Leiden University.

Research topic

Unraveling (eco) toxicity of metal-based nanoparticles to aquatic organism, incorporating eco-physiological traits.

Background: Nanotechnology is rapidly expanding and is increasingly used in every sector of society. The rapid growth and application of nanotechnology inevitably results in the eventual exposure of humans and other environmental receptors to nanometer-scale materials. Nanometer-scale materials exhibit different physical, chemical, and biological properties compared with normal larger-sized materials. The risk and adverse impacts associated with nanomaterials for environment and human health is increasingly gaining attention, and so that a new research topic, nanotoxicity, is blooming.
