Angelica Mendoza Beltran completed her studies in Environmental Engineering at Los Andes University (2006) in Bogota - Colombia, where she is originally from. Afterwards she earned her MSc degree in Industrial Ecology at Leiden University (2008) in The Netherlands.
She then worked at the PBL - Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency as a junior Policy Researcher (2012). There, she was involved with the development and applications of the IMAGE Integrated Assessment Model with focus on the FAIR model. Some topics of research were: Reductions of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), international climate policy, climate change scenarios and production-consumption systems analysis.
She participated, as part of the IMAGE team, in international modeling exercises such as the Energy Modeling Forum (EMF) and the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) to be part of the climate scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) fifth Assessment Report (AR5), among others
At present she works at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) for the Industrial Ecology department (2013) and is involved in the FP7 EU project IDREEM, researching the resource efficiency of the European aquaculture sector
