Tracy obtained her M.S. degree in Zoology from Southern Illinois University. Her thesis research involved measuring flight speeds of birds with Doppler radar over a twelve month period.
She is employed by the State of Illinois as a biologist for the Department of Natural Resources. Her job is to conduct environmental reviews for threatened and endangered species and wetlands for construction projects including bike trails, housing, and factories.
Her strongest skills are with conservation practices and watershed management. She is also interested in exotic plant species.
She is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal for the Illinois Native Plant Society.
Tracy's research examines biodiversity on the landscape level in the midwest United States, specifically Illinois. Her current study looks at food availability for young birds in agricultural field margins.
