Professional experience

Dr. Liang Dong got his B.S. from Tsinghua university in 2008, M.S. from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute for Process Engineering, in 2011, and Ph.D (environmental engineering) from Nagoya University,Japan, in 2014. From 2011 to 2015, He also had worked at Center for social and Environmental System Research, National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan. Also, from 2015 July, becomes the adjunct associate professor at School of Geography and Remote Sensing, Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, lead a joint research on sustainable regional resource management. Finally, since July, 2015, has been the board member of  Chinese Society of Industrial Ecology.

Research topic

His research focuses on the nexus of Industrial Ecology, Sustainability, Regional eco-industrial development and sustainable urban planning, applied with multi approaches like sustainability index, material/energy flows analysis, input-output modeling, life cycle assessment as well as regional environmental governance and policies. I have co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in this field. At CML, as the main scientist, I will take charge of a new released Sino-Dutch "Smart Industrial Parks" project (supported by NWO), aims to develop integrated evaluation tools (integrating process analysis, LCA, IO as well as spatial optimization) to support the transformation of industrial parks and regional eco-industrial development.
