Maartje Brouwer obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology at Utrecht University in 2006. She completed her master’s degree in Toxicology and Environmental Health in 2010, also at Utrecht University. The major research project in her master focused on immuno-modulating properties of ultrafine particulate matter in vitro, while her master thesis explored the effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) related to mobile phone signals on human brain activity and cognitive functioning. She worked for 8 months as research assistant on several EMF related projects at IRAS and is since June 2010 employed as Phd-student at IRAS on a collaborative project with CML (PAGES). Her part of this project focuses on the development of a GIS based tool for estimating (historical) environmental exposure to pesticides, which will be used in epidemiological research.
Promoters: prof.dr.ir. J. Kromhout (IRAS) and prof.dr. G. de Snoo (CML).
