Jan Baas obtained his MSc as a Chemist in 1990 at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. His first job was with the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Research, working on measuring and modelling local air quality and pesticide emissions and immissions.
From 1999-2005 he has been self-employed as a researcher in Environmental Assessment, before starting a PhD on effects of mixtures of contaminants in our environment.
Currently he is employed on a EU Research grant as a Marie-Curie fellow at the centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Wallingford UK on effects of mixtures of contaminants on bio-diversity, with a guest research place at the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Leiden University.
