Pesticides Atlas website
Dutch water boards have been monitoring pesticide levels in surface waters extensively for years. At the initiative of Leiden University’s Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML), and with major support from numerous organisations, these monitoring results have been converted to map format on a website that everyone can freely access: http://www.pesticidesatlas.nl.
The site is developed by the CML- Leiden University and Royal Haskoning and is supported by many Ministries and Institutes. The website provides a transparant internet tool at which measured pesticide concentrations in Dutch surface waters are depicted. More than that, it answers the questions where, when and to what extent environmental quality standards have been exceeded. Surveillance data of more than 10 years are avaiable. From these results also trends can be determined, in order to answer questions whether or not water quality is improved.
